It is here, out in the middle of the forest, that he found trouble. Finding smaller roving patrols, he cut through them and hastily continued onwards until he encountered a large pocket of hilichurls and abyss mages.

Flames licked the edge of the claymore as it both sliced and cauterized any flesh it made contact with. The searing flames matched the intensity in the nobleman’s eyes as he fought alone in the wooden depths of Wolvendom. Once elegant and pristine clothing now sported nicks and minor tears, but he didn’t care. Defeating his enemies and surviving is all that mattered.

The nobleman pressed on as he fought monster after monster. Leaving a trail of spewn corpses behind, hilichurl carcasses with severed limbs or decapitated heads. The abyss mages attempting to create distance between themselves and the fiery human who dares oppose them. They nervously shifted behind the hilichurl forces to focus on ranged elemental attacks, visibly frightened of his ferocity. The minute he stood too close to one, they would teleport a healthy distance away.

Like a man wielding a javelin and throwing it, Diluc launched his heavy claymore at a charging blazing axe mitachurl, impaling its chest dead center. It stumbled and gurgled, blood seeping under its mask, dropping its weapon with a loud clatter. The redhead did not wait to see it collapse to the ground, he was almost too quick for the naked eye as he sprang towards a pair of pyro hilichurl shooters. He did not need his weapon to dispatch his targets, delivering a powerful haymaker that would not only knock the monster out cold, but crack its mask. Spinning with the motion of the attack to strike the second archer with a swift roundhouse to the creature’s head. It uttered a startled cry as it was launched off the edge it stood upon, spinning like a cyclone on its way down.

His instincts picked up on a sneak attack as a large icy projectile nearly sunk into his shoulder. Even with his recovering wounds, he is acting as if he was in his prime. Dodging to the side as he channeled flames into his gloved left hand, offering suppressing fire of his own as a fireball is unleashed upon the cowardly cryo mage. It forced the levitating creature to back down and swiftly put up a barrier. Focusing on defense instead of offense.

Diluc’s crimson eyes glaring daggers at the mages, his attention is pulled away by a squad of hilichurls with wooden shields, effectively blocking the way to the abyss mages. His gaze landed on the nearby dead mitachurl with a blade sticking out of it, making a quick calculation and acting on it. He threw himself with so much speed towards the large corpse, needing both hands to free the weapon and a foot on the mitachurl’s chest to push away. He deflected a slew of icy projectiles that nearly caught his side, the flat of the claymore’s blade taking the brunt of the onslaught.

The other abyss mages seemed to understand that this was the best time to strike in unison, flanking the human and firing their own elemental attacks. A glob of water tried to trap him, but he sliced it clean in half. The flames that rolled off his blade quickly vaporized the water into nothing but harmless steam. Another cryo mage attempted to form ice around the man’s feet, but Diluc saw through its intentions in seconds, leaping into the air to cut through a number of icy spears that sought his body.

Landing only to make a mad dash forwards to cleave into hilichurl shields and monster alike with ease. They were the barrier to get at the abyss mages and he needed to take care of the nuisance. Hilichurls shrieking as they were cut down mercilessly, the human not sparing them a second thought as he launched himself at the group of abyss mages. He concentrated a large amount of energy into his blade, flames that enveloped the blade only became more fierce and wild. The heat in his chest intensified and throbbed with life as his eyes changed into a deep red and orange color.

It was almost like he was glowing for a moment as he unleashed a powerful attack on the panicking little creatures. A massive fireball like projectile that would twist and morph mid flight to sprout wings and a head. Taking the form of a fire bird as it swooped upon the mages and enveloped them in burning ruin. The elemental shields that protected their levitating bodies suddenly shattered like fragile glass. Their screams of agony were like a twisted symphony, a sweet sound to the nobleman as he lowered his blade. His searing gaze watching their little writhing forms as they blacken and turn into ash. Whatever vegetation or saplings may have been in the path had also been scorched, but he was careful enough not to start a forest fire.

That was all of them in this area, he knew there were more. He saw a group of more abyssal creatures and hilichurls head further up the trail. They are heading towards Andrius, and he will stop them before they can try anything. His train of thoughts froze at the sound of clapping behind him, the sudden noise made the hairs on the back of his skull stand on end. He didn’t sense any other presence around him and his alarm bells weren’t going off until now.

His heart turned cold as he spun around with his weapon raised defensively, not really sure what to expect. Crimson eyes meeting an unfamiliar tall form that levitated no more than ten feet away. He studied the figure and made an educated guess that the creature before him is also from the abyss order. The creature’s attire is strange and their energy signature felt like the empty void of the abyss.

“The human who wields flames and disrupts our plans, Darknight Hero, you have come at last.” The large humanoid being spoke. Its tone of voice borders amusement and irritation.

Diluc’s eyes sized up his opponent, the creature in front of him did not touch the ground, hovering just shy from the ground as a tome of sorts floated close to its clawed hands. This beaked individual is something the nobleman has never come across before which is bad. He could assess easily that this is a foe, but he couldn’t determine what form of attacks to expect. The redhead kept his guard up as he tried to read this entity; he didn’t see any form of traditional weapons on this creature.

“What are you?” Diluc hissed in demand. His nose wrinkling and brows furrowed, nearly baring his teeth at the monster.

“We are but the voice of the abyss! You, who have dominated the battlefield and diminished our forces shall be granted the gift of our light!” The abyss creature began to make hand gestures as the book catalyst glowed ever so brightly.

An angry crackle caught Diluc’s attention as his head snapped downwards to the ground, a purple circular rune formed around him. In an instant, electricity struck at the site of the redhead who barely had time to throw himself out of the circle. This creature is an electro spell caster, something to be weary of and keep in mind from now on.
